I study wave breaking and currents within the surf zone, the region of wave breaking, using a combination of numerical modeling, field observations, and laboratory experiments. My PhD focuses on the formation and evolution of surf-zone eddies in the laboratory environment with in situ and remotely sensed (i.e., stereo reconstructions from optical imagery and LiDAR) measurements. Outside of research, I spend most of my time in the outdoors, trail running in the summer and skiing in the winter.
