About

As a PhD candidate I am studying sand wave dynamics (large scale bed forms found on the sea bed), using the 3D process-based Delft3D Flexible Mesh model. By including real field cases in our models we are able to validate the hydro- and morphodynamics. Through efficiency gains in the Delft3D FM model we are able to run 3D models on long timescales. This allows us to gain understanding on the natural sand wave system as well as its interactions with human interventions, such as cable trenching.
Next to this I work part-time as a consultant for Deltares, where I mainly assist in providing seabed morphology predictions to aid offshore wind-farm developments.
I live together with my partner in the historic city center of Delft. This offers us plenty of opportunities to explore musea and go to classical concerts, which we really enjoy. However, I am also a big fan of nature, which sadly there is less of in our busy country, but on holiday I like to go hiking, (mountain)biking and camping. At home I really enjoy reading, playing the piano, sewing and running.
