Woods Hole Group Seeking Qualified Coastal Scientist Level 1 or 2
Woods Hole Group is seeking to fill a Coastal Scientist Level 1 or 2 position in the Falmouth, Massachusetts office. Selected candidates will be a project-oriented member of Coastal Sciences, Engineering & Planning Team, focused on performing data collection, analysis, and reporting of coastal environmental processes (ecological, biological, chemical, physical, and geological); assisting senior scientists and engineers with related tasks in an independent manner; perform project management activities under the direction of a supervisor; prepare concise, clear, and quality data figures and summaries; prepare reports of completed work; and participate in new proposal efforts.
Qualifications/Characteristics required for consideration: Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Oceanography, Marine Sciences, Marine Ecology, or a closely related field is required; Master’s degree is preferred. In lieu of Master’s degree, 1-3 years of work experience is required. Specialization in sediment characterization and processes is required. Demonstrated capabilities in data analysis and courses in quantitative coastal processes are highly desirable. Knowledge of sediment and water biogeochemistry of nutrients is desirable. A high level of proficiency in personal computers including MS Word, Excel, and various instrument communications programs as well as specific instrument communication protocols is required. Excellent writing, communication, and interpersonal skills are required.
