Position as a Research Associate in Coastal Engineering

We are seeking a motivated candidate to work within our interdisciplinary team starting 1st August 2016.
The position is limited to a duration of three years and the salary is based on the German Civil Service system for employees E13 TV-L.

Job description
The work is part of a new joint research project “waveSTEPS” to investigate the effect of stepped revetments on wave run-up and wave overtopping. The general aim of this project is to generate design-related conclusions for the improvement of the constructive design of embankments in urban areas. Therefore, physical model tests in a wave flume have to be planned, conducted and analysed. The results have to be published in research reports and further international research papers in corporation with the project partner (FH Aachen).
The opportunity to draw up a PhD is given and supported by the instute.

Your profile
Applicant for the position must have an above-average MSc or equivalent degree in civil engineering with a focus on coastal engineering (or similar) with knowledge in Matlab and physical modelling. Very good to excellent English skills (oral and written) are a
prerequisite. Knowledge of the German language is no requirement, but is beneficial.
