Job Opportunity at East Carolina University

The Department of Engineering at East Carolina University (http://www.engineering.ecu.edu ) seeks candidates for multiple tenure-track faculty positions (assistant, associate, or full professor) in the priority areas of (1) biomaterials and/or biomechanics, (2) coastal infrastructure, sustainability, and/or energy, and (3) big data analytics. Candidates must be willing to collaborate in multi-disciplinary research teams aligned with these priority areas. Moreover, they are expected to play leadership roles in the future development of research and academic degree programs in these priority areas. The Department offers an ABET-accredited BS in Engineering with concentrations in Biomedical Engineering, Bioprocess Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Industrial and Systems Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering. Also offered is a MS in biomedical engineering in collaboration with the ECU Brody School of Medicine and the ECU School of Dental Medicine. A MS in mechanical engineering is in development. There are currently approximately 30 faculty, 550 undergraduate engineering majors, and 15 graduate students. The department plans to grow both the undergraduate and graduate populations. Minimum Qualifications

PhD in biomedical, civil, electrical, environmental, industrial, mechanical, ocean, or systems engineering, or closely related disciplines. Candidates for associate or full professor ranks must have a strong record of grant funded

research and scholarly publications. All degrees must be conferred from a regionally accredited institution.

 

Preferred Education and Experience

Primary consideration will be given to applicants whose research and/or teaching experience support these priority areas. Other desirable qualifications include industry experience, teaching experience in flipped,

hybrid, online, or distance education settings, and previous grant-writing experience.
