Amaia is an early career researcher at the Institute of Oceanographic Research at the University of Baja California, Mexico. Amaia’s main topic of interest is morphodynamics and hydrodynamics on gravel and sandy beaches with a focus on beach erosion and recovery at storm-driven, seasonal and annual time scales. Her work has taken Amaia to carry out field work on beaches throughout Spain, France, UK, Mexico and USA. Her interests extend to sediment transport processes and is particularly interested in the physical processes of the nearshore currents including the rip currents.
