A Research Fellow position is being offered at The Griffith Centre for
Coastal Management, a research centre based on the Gold Coast Campus of
Griffith University, Queensland, Australia.
The Research Fellow will carry out applied research activities with a team
of coastal engineers and scientists working on projects which support the
development of effective management strategies for coastal environments with
a particular focus on the Gold Coast.
This position is required to provide high level technical support of
research projects undertaken as part of the Coastal Management Research
Program funded by the City of Gold Coast. In particular the position will
deliver applied science and coastal engineering research projects related to
the implementation of the Gold Coast Shoreline Management Plan and other
research activities as directed by the Centre Director.
This is a fixed term (12 months), full time position based at the Gold Coast
campus. The level of appointment made will be dependent on the successful
candidates’ qualifications and experience.
Applicants should have a PhD in a relevant field or extensive
research-oriented experience in field of coastal engineering, coastal
management, coastal oceanography or coastal geomorphology and,
Demonstrated experience in understanding dynamics of shoreline and coastal
ocean processes (Grade 1), or extensive research experience including
leadership responsibility (Grade 2).
Demonstrated experience in coastal process modelling (eg. XBeach, SWAN,
Demonstrated ability to undertake research and project management work under
broad direction only and exercise initiative in undertaking responsibilities
and work effectively with Chief Investigators.
Development of publication record (Grade 1), or well established record of
academic publishing (Grade 2).
