About
I am a coastal geomorphologist by training and my early academic career focussed on the morphodynamics of beach rip currents and coral reef-islands. Over the last decade my research interests have shifted towards beach safety research, which involves a multi-disciplinary approach to improve understanding of the nature and characteristics of rescues, injury and drowning incidents in relation to various beach hazards. I also conduct a significant amount of Australian and global outreach and science communication relating to the rip current hazard and beach safety.
