4 Research Fellow positions at University of Salento, Italy

Job Summary:
as part of the Italian research project titled START “SisTemi di rApid map-ping e
contRollo del Territorio costiero e marino” (fast mapping and control of the
Coastal and Marine zones), the School of Engineering at the University of
Salento invites applicants for 18 months lasting Research Fellow positions
in Coastal Engineering.
The main subject of the research focuses on the offshore wave climate
study and on the practical and operative use of numerical wave models for
the simulation of the (i) propagation of waves from the open sea to the
nearby coastal zones and (ii) morphodynamic evolution of beaches due to
sediment transport processes. The numerical results obtained by the morphodynamic
study will be compared with analysis of historical maps, remotely sensed data and
geomorphological observations.

Required Qualifications:
Applicants must be aged under 35 years and must have a Ph.D. or 3-years of
equivalent research experience at postgraduate level. The successful
candidate should demonstrate ability to establish/conduct a productive
research program.

Preferred Qualifications:
Candidates with familiarity with numerical modelling of waves/circulation
and morphodinamic processes will be preferred (e.g. MIKE21,SMS,
SWAN, DELFT3D).

APPLICATIONS DEADLINE DATE (posting): the 13th of May 2016;
Surface mail has to include a delivery notification. Posting by email has to addressed to
dip.ingegneria.innovazione@cert-unile.it

STARTING DATE: 01-06-2016

AVAILABLE POSITIONS: 4

Salary: 29.616 euro for 18 months (gross), equivalent to about 27.000 netto.

Documents that must be submitted/delivered:
Application form with attached a curriculum of his/her scientific activity
(dated and signed); a list of publications (dated and signed); a short report on how
you intend to deal studies about  wave propagation from offshore to inshore, wave agitation in a
port, and wave induced morphodynamics (dated and signed).
